The coffee filter is one of the most widespread stimulants in the world, used by almost a third of humanity who consumes coffee.

What you need to make a coffee filter

You can choose from different methods of preparation, and the most popular are:

  • Chemex
  • Aeropress
  • v60

Once you decide on the method of preparation, you need to know the properties of the coffee you are going to prepare. You need to pay attention to whether the coffee is roasted light or dark as this will define the taste you will feel in your cup.

What does the style of roasting coffee tell you?

Lightly roasted coffee is usually more suitable for making filter coffee than darkly roasted coffee. Of course, it depends on your taste.

Lightly roasted filter coffee

Coffee beans have a higher density. This means that they need a higher water temperature of 90-95 ° C for extraction. The flavors of lightly roasted coffee are approaching fruit and citrus flavors.

Medium roasted filter coffee

If the filter coffee is a little less roasted, then the coffee beans have a slightly lower density. This means that they need a slightly lower water temperature of 85-90 ° C for extraction. The flavors created by medium-roasted coffee are reminiscent of chocolate and nuts.

Dark roasted coffee filter

Dark roasted coffee is heavily roasted. Dark roasted coffee beans have a low density, so they are brittle. To extract coffee filler in this case, you need a low water temperature of about 80 ° C. The flavors evoked by dark roasted coffee are bitter as the coffee is burnt. This taste, however, deters most people from drinking filter coffee. Thus, coffee is classified as low-quality coffee.

CHEMEX COFFEE FILTER: PREPARATION

To prepare you need Cemex filter coffee you need the following accessories:

  • Chemex pitcher,
  • filter paper,
  • water heater,
  • scales and
  • coffee.

First, consider what ratio of coffee to water you will use. We recommend a ratio of 1:15, which means 1 g of coffee per 15 g of water. Relationships you can use can also be:

  • 1:15,
  • 1:16,
  • 1:17
  • and another.

You need 10 g of coffee to make one cup of filter coffee. If you want a coffee that has a stronger taste or greater effect, you can put more coffee in the water to your liking. With 10 g of coffee, you will need 150 g of water.

Place the filter jug on a scale that measures grams, so that you can know exactly how much water you will add. A great option is to have a timer available, and if you don't have one, you can use a stopwatch on your phone.

The next step is to pour hot water over the filter paper before pouring the coffee into the filter paper to remove the taste of the paper and prepare it for filtration. Take the filter and place it in a Chemex jug. Heat the water to 92 ° C. Then shake the filter coffee into the filter paper.

First, pour in double the amount of water and be careful to soak all the coffee and wait for about 30 to 40 seconds. This step is called blooming or flowering.

Then slowly pour 100 g of water again and wait for the top layer to dry. Repeat the process until you pour all the water.

When pouring water, always be careful not to pour too much on the sides of the filter paper, but pour in a spiral manner so that the extraction is complete.

Remove filter paper with filter coffee, take your favorite coffee cup and enjoy premium coffee.

    Aeropress

First you need to decide what the relationship between coffee and water will be. You can choose from the following ratios:

  • 1:15
  • 1:16
  • 1:17

We recommend a ratio of 1:15, which means 1 g of coffee and 15 g of water. You need 10 g of coffee to make one cup. Of course, you can always use more coffee, depending on your taste. With 10 g of coffee, you will need 150 g of water.

Then take the filter, place it in the Aeropress and heat the water to 92 ° C. Before pouring the coffee into the filter paper, it is necessary to pour hot water over it to remove the taste of the paper. So prepare the filter paper for filtration. Then sprinkle filter coffee into it.

Place the Aeropress on a cup or jug and put it all together on a gram scale, as this is the only way to know how much water you will add. A great option is that the scale also has a timer, and if you don't have one, you can use a stopwatch on your phone.

First, pour enough water to soak all the coffee. Wait about 30 - 40 seconds. This step is called blooming or flowering.

Then pour in the rest of the water, mix gently and close to create a vacuum. Wait 60 seconds. Then gently press to begin the extraction.

COFFEE FILTER V60

  • v60 dripper,
  • pitcher or cup

Decide what ratio of coffee to water you will choose for your taste and needs. Usually you can choose between the lower iramzers:

1:15

1:16

1:17

or more.

We recommend a ratio of 1:15, which means 1 g of coffee and 15 g of water. Therefore, you need 10 g of coffee to prepare one cup. However, if you want a stronger taste and greater effect, add more coffee. Eventually you will find out what suits you best. With 10 g of coffee, you will need 150 g of water.

We recommend from experience that before pouring coffee into filter paper, it should be watered with hot water. This removes the taste of paper. So prepare the filter paper for filtration. Then take the filter and place it in the dripper. Heat the water to 92 ° C. Finally, shake the coffee into the filter paper.

Place the dripper on a pitcher or cup and place it all together on a gram scale. Only then will you know exactly how much water you will be adding. It’s great that the scale has a timer. But if you don't have it, you can use a stopwatch on your phone or a regular watch.

Initially, pour twice the amount of water. Be sure to wet all the coffee. Wait about 30 - 40 seconds as blooming or flowering coffee is happening.

Then slowly pour another 100 g of water again and wait for the top layer to dry. Repeat this process until you have poured in the entire amount of water.

When pouring water, always be careful not to pour too much on the sides of the filter paper. Rather, pour in a spiral manner to complete the extraction.
